Public Funding- Making Up for Lost Time
In July 2009, the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) issued the long-awaited Guidelines for Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research. By doing so, the NIH resumed its historical role as the traditional leader in biomedical research and opened the door to become the field's principal and longterm funding source.
